Race
The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's constantly challenged racism throughout the United States and turned into a worldwide movement pushing for equality before the law and also took the forms of civil resistance. The movement was trying to achieve change through nonviolent forms of resistance.
Before the Civil Rights Movement, there was not a lot of respect for visible minorities, or a lot of choice in terms of employment, education or equality in society. Although their rights at the time were not always equal, there were many "Heroes" involved in the Civil Rights Movement such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr.

What do you think the significance is behind participants starting at Meredith's "falling point"?
